Shayla's Committment to Public Safety in Lexington

Shayla works to increase public safety in Lexington by serving on various boards and by supporting neighborhood safety initiatives like improved access to local community gardens. Additionally, she prioritizes the following:

  • Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Member

  • Worked with Seedleaf and D2 neighbors to create safer neighborhood access to a community garden

  • Participated in Lexington’s first and second annual Week Without Driving

  • Serve on the Transportation Policy Committee of the Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Social Services Advisory Board

  • Funded traffic calming measures in District 2

  • Succeeded in getting more district streets added to the city snow plan
